How Our Courier Process Works

  1. Request a pickup or drop-off.

Give us a call/whatsapp/email us at our Thamel branch office (or even book using our book a quote service in namastecargonepal.com), giving us all details like the destination, estimated weight, measurements, and content of your parcel. We will quote you rates from different shipping companies.

  1. Pickup from your door

We will pick up your parcel from your residential/home address in Kathmandu valley. Pickup is usually done on the same day in case you book us before midday on working days.

  1. Documentation and customs forms

We fill out the Air Way Bill (AWB) form, commercial invoice (for parcels), and customs declaration form for the destination country if necessary. The documentation process is what makes sure that your parcel is not stuck at the customs at the destination country.

  1. Export processing at TIA

The parcel is cleared by TIA export customs for exportation and handed to the concerned carrier's outgoing flight. There is a regulation in Nepal according to which courier packages can be exported not exceeding 70 kg in weight and USD 5000 value.

  1. Tracking and delivery

After the exportation of your parcel, the AWB number is provided to you and you track the progress on our tracking page.

Frequently Asked Questions: Courier Service from Nepal

How do I calculate the cost of a courier from Nepal?

The cost of international couriers will be charged according to the heavier between the gross or volumetric weight of your item. The volumetric weight of the parcel is computed thus: Length (cm) x Width (cm) x Height (cm) / 5,000. For example, if you have a lightweight yet bulky item, it will still be charged according to volumetric weight. For a quick quotation, use our Cost Calculator, or you can get one instantly from our team.

What is the maximum weight for a courier parcel from Nepal?

Under Nepal's courier regulation, the maximum weight limit per consignment for import parcels is 70 kgs, while that of exports is $5,000 of declared value. Any item that exceeds these limits should be sent via cargo booking.

Do I need a commercial invoice for sending a parcel from Nepal?

A commercial invoice is normally needed only when it involves business parcels that include product samples. Gifts or items intended for personal use require a customs declaration only.

Will my recipient in another country have to pay customs duty?

It depends on the import restrictions in the receiving country, as well as the declared value of the parcel. Most countries will have de minimis amounts up to which there is no duty applicable; for instance, in the case of the UK, the de minimis is £135. Nepal doesn’t have any de minimis, and therefore all items imported are duty assessable. We provide details of the expected duties based on destination at the time of booking.

Can I send food items from Nepal by courier?

Commercially packed, shelf-stable packaged food items, like tea, coffee, dry spices, and instant noodles, can be dispatched internationally from Nepal depending on the destination’s food import guidelines. Perishable food products cannot be dispatched through any courier services. Countries like Australia, New Zealand, and USA have very strict biosecurity guidelines on importation of food items.

How do I track my courier parcel after it leaves Nepal?

As soon as your package is dispatched from Nepal and the Air Way Bill (AWB) is generated, you will be able to track your shipment through our tracking portal.

What is the difference between a courier and air cargo?

Courier is best for parcels under 30–70 kg where door-to-door convenience and fast transit are priorities. Air cargo is more cost-effective for heavier commercial shipments (typically above 50 kg), where the lower per-kg rate offsets the less streamlined handling. Our team can recommend the right option for your specific shipment weight, urgency, and budget.
